'Johanniswolke' is a graceful and airy cultivar of Persicaria, cherished for its incredibly delicate, cloud-like sprays of tiny white flowers that create a soft, luminous effect in the garden. This long-blooming perennial adds a refined touch and subtle movement, especially in more naturalistic or mixed borders.

Growth

Upright, slender, clump-forming perennial. Forms a loose, open mound, typically reaching 80-120 cm (31-47 inches) in height and 60-80 cm (24-31 inches) in spread.

Leaf

Deciduous. Slender, lance-shaped, mid-green leaves.

Flower

Produces abundant, extremely fine, cloud-like sprays of tiny, pure white flowers on wiry, branching stems, creating a misty effect. Blooms profusely from July to October, often continuing until frost. Attracts beneficial insects.

Location

Thrives in full sun to partial shade. Best flowering in ample sunlight.

Frost hardiness

Excellent (USDA Zones 4-8). Very cold-hardy.

Soil

Prefers moist, well-drained, humus-rich soil. Tolerates a wide range of soil types but performs best with consistent moisture.

Water

Medium water requirement. Keep consistently moist, especially during dry periods.

Use

Ideal for perennial borders, naturalistic plantings, cottage gardens, and as a filler or "mist" plant to soften bolder colors or coarser textures. Excellent for adding late-season interest.

Care

Low maintenance. Can be cut back after the first flush of flowers to encourage new growth and a bushier habit, though its natural form is usually quite appealing.

Planting time

Best planted in autumn or early spring.
