The Eastern bluestar (Amsonia tabernaemontana) is an upright, loose perennial that forms light blue, star-shaped flowers arranged in umbels from June to July. Its lanceolate leaves are grey-green. In a sunny to semi-shady location with well-drained soil, it usually reaches a height of approx. 80 cm and is approx. 40 cm wide. The Eastern bluestar is well tolerant of frost.

The deciduous leaves of Eastern bluestar are grey-green, lanceolate. Eastern bluestar turns bright yellow in autumn.

Flower

Amsonia tabernaemontana forms star-shaped, light blue flowers arranged in umbels from June.

Location

Preferred location in a sunny to semi-shady position.

Frost hardiness

The Eastern bluestar has good frost hardiness.

Water regularly and allow the soil to dry out in the meantime.

Care
