The Japanese shield fern (Dryopteris erythrosora) is a decorative design element in the garden with its feathery, medium green leaf fronds. The copper-brown shoots are an interesting detail. It feels most at home in a semi-shady to shady location with humus-rich soil. In favourable conditions, this hardy fern reaches a height of approx. 70 cm and grows up to 60 cm wide.

High leaf ornamental value. The wintergreen leaves of the Japanese shield ferns are medium green, pinnate. Copper-brown shoots.

Preferred location in semi-shady to shady position.
