The Chinese chives (Allium tuberosum) is a savoury tasting vegetable plant. Its leaves can be harvested as soon as it has reached approx. 20 cm. A sunny location and well-drained, nutrient-rich soil are required for optimum growth of the Chinese chives.

Suitable for consumption. The dark-green leaves are linear and have a spicy flavour.

Location

Preferred location in a sunny position.

Prefers humus-rich soil.

Use

Bee pasture, vegetable garden, salad, Asian cuisine, soup/stew. Cuisine, soup/stew

Water

Water regularly and allow the soil to dry out in the meantime.

Care

It is advisable to dig irrigation trenches between the rows, as many vegetables should not be watered from above. In addition: Regular weeding prevents weeds from taking over the vegetables.
