'Gambit White' is a compact and free-flowering cultivar of Gaura, known for its airy clusters of pure white, butterfly-like blooms that dance on slender stems for an exceptionally long period. It adds delicate movement and brightness to sunny spots.

Growth

Compact, clump-forming perennial. Grows 40-60 cm (16-24 inches) tall and 30-40 cm (12-16 inches) wide.

Leaf

Deciduous. Narrow, lance-shaped, fresh green foliage.

Flower

Abundant, pure white, four-petaled flowers resembling tiny butterflies, held on long, wispy stems. Blooms profusely from June to October. Attracts bees and butterflies.

Location

Thrives in full sun. Essential for abundant flowering.

Frost hardiness

Moderate (USDA Zones 5-8). In colder regions, it may benefit from winter to protect the crown, or it can be treated as an annual.

Soil

Requires well-drained, sandy or loamy soil. Tolerates poor soils but dislikes heavy, wet conditions, especially in winter.

Water

Low water requirement. Drought-tolerant once established.

Use

Ideal for sunny borders, rock gardens, gravel gardens, and containers. Adds an airy, naturalistic feel. Excellent as a cut flower.

Care

Low maintenance. Deadhead regularly to encourage continuous blooming. Cut back old stems in early spring before new growth begins. Avoid heavy pruning in autumn.

Planting time

Best planted in spring after the last frost.
