The Common comfrey (Symphytum officinale) is an upright perennial that produces purple-red flowers from June to August. Its lanceolate leaves are dark green. In a sunny to semi-shady location with well-drained soil, it usually reaches a height of approx. 1 m and grows to a width of approx. 60 cm. The Common comfrey is well tolerant of frost.
