The Japanese orchid lily (Tricyrtis hirta) is an upright, loose perennial that produces violet-white, star-shaped flowers from August to October. Its lanceolate leaves are dark green. In a semi-shady location with well-drained, humus-rich, lime-free, loose soil, it usually reaches a height of approx. 50 cm and is approx. 40 cm wide. The Japanese orchid lily is well tolerant of frost.
