The Purple loosestrife 'Zigeunerblut' (Lythrum salicaria) is an upright, clump-forming perennial that produces purple-red flowers arranged in whorls with a pleasant fragrance from July to September. Its lanceolate leaves are medium green in colour. In a sunny to semi-shady location with well-drained soil, it usually reaches a height of approx. 1.2 m and grows to a width of approx. 40 cm. The Purple loosestrife 'Zigeunerblut' is well tolerant of frost.
