The Apple 'Rote Sternrenette' (Malus domestica) produces purple-red, medium-firm fruits. They are flat and have a sweet and sour flavour. Well-drained, nutrient-rich soil and a sunny to semi-shady location create the ideal conditions for a high-yield harvest from October. Its light pink flowers are a beautiful sight. With its upright and broad growth, the Apple 'Rote Sternrenette' grows to around 4 metres high and 3 metres wide.

Water regularly and allow the soil to dry out in the meantime.

Care

- Cut and saw wounds as well as broken branches should be treated with a wound sealant as soon as possible to prevent pathogens from entering the plant.
- Fruit trees planted in spring must be watered generously throughout the summer. Well-rooted plants only require additional water in extremely dry conditions.
- A slow-release fertiliser can be used in spring. This releases the nutrients slowly and continuously so that the plant is evenly supplied over a longer period of time.

Pruning

Pruning, ideally from February to March, is advisable for this plant.

Container plants can be planted all year round, except when the soil is frozen and in summer heat (over 30°C).
