The Yakushima rhododendron 'Polaris' (Rhododendron yakushimanum) produces a veritable sea of pink flowers with yellow markings from mid-May to early June. Its evergreen foliage is dark green. This broad, densely growing shrub usually reaches a height of 1 - 1.4 metres and a width of 1.4 to 1.8 metres. A semi-shady (to shady) location and humus-rich, lime-free soil create optimum conditions for healthy growth. The Yakushima rhododendron 'Polaris' is well tolerant of frost.

Yakushima rhododendron 'Polaris' is a small shrub that grows broadly and densely. It usually reaches a height of 1 - 1.4 m and is approx. 1.4 - 1.8 m wide. Slow-growing.

Care

- Yellow leaves on rhododendrons can be a sign of too high a lime content in the soil. Iron and magnesium fertiliser, for example, can help.
- This plant should only be watered with lime-free water. Rainwater is particularly suitable for this purpose.
- Cut back frozen shoots to the healthy wood as soon as there is no longer any danger of frost.

Pruning

Pruning, ideally from the end of March to April, is advisable for this plant.
