Location

Preferred location in a semi-shady to shady position, protected from direct midday sun.

Frost hardiness

Rhododendron fortunei 'Best Form' exhibits very good frost hardiness.

Soil

Acidic, humus-rich, well-drained, loose, and moist soil is preferred. A pH value between 4.5 and 5.5 is ideal.

Use

Single planting (solitary), group plantings, shrub borders, moorland beds, under light trees. It is excellently suited as an eye-catcher in the garden.

Water

Die Pflanze hat einen mittleren bis hohen Wasserbedarf. Der Boden sollte stets feucht, aber nicht staunass sein. Besonders in Trockenperioden ist eine zusätzliche Bewässerung wichtig.

Care

A special Rhododendron or ericaceous fertilizer can be used in spring. Mulching with bark mulch or leaf compost helps to retain soil moisture and stabilize the pH value. Spent flower heads should be carefully removed to prevent seed formation and promote flowering in the following year.

Planting time

Container plants can be planted all year round, except when the ground is frozen or during extreme heat. However, the best planting time is spring or autumn.
