The Himalayan may apple (Podophyllum hexandrum) is a rhizome-forming perennial that forms light pink, bowl-shaped flowers in May. Decorative, red fruits develop from the flowers in July. Its three-lobed, lobed leaves are medium green in colour. In a sunny to semi-shady location with well-drained, humus-rich, loose soil, it usually reaches a height of approx. 60 cm and is approx. 40 cm wide. The Himalayan may apple is well tolerant of frost.
