The Bowman's root (Gillenia trifoliata) is an upright perennial that forms white flowers arranged in panicles from June to July. Its trifoliate leaves are light green. In a sunny to semi-shady location with well-drained, humus-rich, nutrient-rich soil, it usually reaches a height of approx. 90 cm and is approx. 40 cm wide. The Bowman's root is well tolerant of frost.
