The Yellow asphodel (Asphodeline lutea) is an upright, runner-forming, clump-forming, winter-green perennial that produces yellow, star-shaped, spike-shaped flowers with a pleasant fragrance from April to May. Its linear leaves are blue-green in colour. In a sunny location with well-drained, humus-rich, nutrient-rich soil, it usually grows to a height of approx. 80 cm and is approx. 40 cm wide. The Yellow asphodel is well tolerant of frost.

The wintergreen leaves of Yellow asphodel are blue-green, linear.

Flower

Asphodeline lutea forms star-shaped, yellow flowers arranged in spikes from April. These exude a pleasant fragrance.

This plant has a low water requirement.

Care

- If the plant is divided every 2-3 years and weak roots and shoots are removed, the reward is better growth and flowering vigour!
- If the plant is watered less frequently but thoroughly and penetratingly, the plant roots are encouraged to penetrate into deeper soil layers. This helps the plant to survive periods of drought.
- The plant must be protected from winter moisture.
