The Yarrow (Achillea umbellata) is a cushion-forming, winter-green perennial that produces white flowers arranged in umbels with a light fragrance from June to July. Its pinnate leaves are silver-white. In a sunny location with well-drained, loose, nutrient-rich soil, it usually reaches a height of approx. 20 cm and is approx. 25 cm wide. The Yarrow is well tolerant of frost.

Care

- If the plant is divided every 2-3 years and weak roots and shoots are removed, the reward is better growth and flowering vigour!
- Rock garden plants love loose, well-drained soil. However, as this substrate stores little water, the plants must be watered regularly for several weeks after planting, especially in dry conditions, until they are sufficiently rooted.

Planting partner

The Yarrow sets beautiful accents together with:
Garden bearded carnation, Carpathian bellflower.

Planting time

Planting: Autumn, depending on variety also in spring.
